MY STORIES
#1000storiesofkindness I remember one rainy evening, as I was rushing home after buying groceries. The streets were flooded, and most shops had closed early. I saw an elderly man struggling to push his bicycle through the water. Without thinking twice, I approached him and offered my help. Together, we managed to get his bike and him to a dry spot. He was immensely grateful and insisted on offering me a cup of tea at his home nearby. We ended up sharing stories and laughter, turning a gloomy evening into a heartwarming memory. That simple act of kindness connected me with a wonderful person I wouldn't have met otherwise.
#1000storiesofkindness Yesterday, my friend was feeling down about not landing a job he had interviewed for. To cheer him up, I invited him over to my house. We spent the evening playing MOBA games and watching funny videos online. The light-hearted moments seemed to lift his mood, and we enjoyed each other's company without needing to go anywhere special. We ended up talking about our dreams and ambitions that made him feel more confident and ambitious more than ever. It was a reminder that the best way to support a friend is simply by being there for him.
#1000storiesofkindness Today was the vibrant festival of Rath Yatra, where the grand chariot was pulled by throngs of eager devotees. I joined the procession, feeling the energy and excitement in the air. As the chariot moved along, those riding it generously threw prasad to the crowd. I was lucky enough to catch a banana. Amidst the joyful chaos, I noticed a young boy nearby, his eyes wide with anticipation as he reached out, trying desperately to catch something. Despite his efforts, he came up empty-handed. I decided to share my fortune. Splitting the banana in half, I handed him a piece. The look of pure joy and gratitude on his face was priceless, making the moment even more special.
#1000storiesofkindness Monday evening brought an unexpected visit from my uncle to my house. He had a puzzled look on his face, clearly frustrated by something on his phone. After exchanging greetings, he explained his dilemma that he needed to retrieve his annual transaction statements using the YONO SBI but couldn't figure it out. I asked him have a seat comfortably at the drawing room. Taking his phone, I navigated through the app step-by-step, explaining each button and menu clearly. Despite his initial hesitation with technology, my uncle listened attentively, asking questions whenever he felt unsure. As we worked through the process, I could see his relief growing with each successful tap on the screen. Finally, we found the section for annual statements, and together, we downloaded and saved the documents he needed. We spent a few more minutes going over the steps to ensure he felt confident using the app in the future. By the time he left, he was smiling and expressing his amazement at how technology could make things easier once you knew how to use it. Reflecting on that evening, I realized how an act of kindness could strengthen family bonds and bring a sense of accomplishment to both of us.
#1000storiesofkindness Returning home after buying groceries yesterday evening, I noticed an elderly man near the lane of my house looking troubled. He explained he had lost his wallet with his ID and few important items. I offered to help and found it near a bush. He thanked me profusely, relieved and grateful for the small gesture. As I continued on my way home, I couldn't help but smile. A simple act of kindness had brought immense relief to the elderly man.
#1000storiesofkindness This morning, on my day off, I decided to have a ride on my electric scooty around the neighborhood .I unexpectedly ran into my friend Bikki who had just finished his errands and was stranded without change for an auto-rickshaw. I offered him a ride on my electric scooty, and we enjoyed a fun and breezy trip home, catching up along the way. Bikki was grateful for the lift, and we joked about the unexpected twist in our morning plans before parting ways with a smile.
#1000storiesofkindness Yesterday morning, as my father prepared to renew his license at the RTO, I suggested he handle it online through the Parivahan website to save time and hassle. Initially hesitant about technology, he agreed to let me assist. Sitting together, I guided him through the website, explaining each step patiently. After successfully completing the process, he was pleasantly surprised by how straightforward it had been. Later that evening, over dinner, he thanked me for suggesting the online option and admitted he hadn't expected it to be so convenient. I modestly acknowledged his gratitude, glad to have made his day smoother with this simple act of help.
#1000storiesofkindness On my way to my cousin's house, a beggar approached me, asking for money. Instead of giving him cash, I decided to do something more substantial. I noticed a nearby fast-food stall serving hot noodles and bought a hearty plate for him. He looked surprised and grateful as I handed it to him. He thanked me sincerely, and I could see relief on his face as he dug into the warm meal. It felt good knowing that I had provided him with a hot meal that would hopefully sustain him for a while.
#1000storiesofkindness This morning, I went to the bank to deposit my younger sister's school fees. I noticed an elderly lady struggling with a form, looking quite worried. I approached her and asked if I could help. She explained that she couldn't read or write English, which was causing her stress. I filled out the form for her, and when I handed it back, she thanked me warmly. Her gratitude made me realize that with every act of kindness, I am encouraged to be more kind.
When my grandmother visited the other day to get her blood pressure checked, she seemed quite tired from the journey. I made her a warm cup of her favorite herbal tea and offered to massage her hands. As I did, she shared how the village had experienced a flood about a month ago. Although the flood lasted only a week and wasn’t severe enough to cause lasting damage, it had caused some temporary disruptions. She spoke about how the village had quickly returned to normalcy and how the community had come together during that time. Her spirits seemed to lift as she recounted these positive developments. It made me realize how even small acts of kindness can have a significant impact.
Today, I noticed my mother, struggling because she couldn’t find brown rice at any store in our town and the brown rice we had was almost finished. She didn't realize it could be ordered online. I stepped in and helped her search for it on Amazon. We quickly found the brown rice and placed the order for delivery. Later, she told me how relieved and grateful she was for my help. That small act of assistance made her day much easier and reminded me of the power of kindness.
Its been a very hot day today with quite high percentage of humidity, my younger sister returns home from school every day at 3:30 pm, looking exhausted. Wanting to help, I decided to make her a refreshing lemonade. I squeezed fresh lemons, added sugar, and mixed in ice-cold water. When my sister saw the lemonade, she smiled and immediately took a sip. Her relief was evident, and she mentioned how perfect it was. Seeing her refreshed made me realise that being part of campaign had made kindness a subconscious habit for me, and moments like these showed how effortlessly small gestures could brighten someone's day.
I was hesitant to join the Elements program before but the 1Gen motto "We Make Impossible Happen" motivated me join the kick off today and after today's kick off session for Elements program, the first thought that came to my mind was very crystal clear that I want to be a part of this program because I have been introverted all my life and I want to get rid of being introverted as I could relate with Udhira and I am motivated seeing her volenteering for the Elements program. I am slowly and steadily being less introverted ever since I have been a part of 1Gen as a participant in CreatiVelo 2023 and I feel the Element program can really help me with building more confidence in me to create a positive impact.
I remember back in 2022, during my fifth semester, when our seniors organized a cricket tournament at college. My friends from Assam and I would often play cricket just for fun whenever the field was empty. Shubhangkar jokingly suggested we form a team and enter the tournament. At first, we laughed it off and none of us thought we were good enough to compete with the other players. But eventually, we decided to give it a shot just for the fun of it. Surprisingly, we ended up winning every match except for the finals. It was only after the tournament that we realized how much potential we had as a team. That experience motivated us to participate in more tournaments, and we even won two of them. It really became a moment of impact for me, teaching me that we never know what we can accomplish until you try, and it’s not over until it’s truly over. #ELEMENT2024
In 2019, after finishing class 12, I decided to enroll at Allen, Kota, for JEE coaching, as I had always dreamt of becoming an IITian. However, as COVID cases surged across India, being one of the few tribal students in the city, I encountered racism from some people. They would call me names like Corona, Chinese, or Chinky whenever they saw me on the streets. Though it was deeply frustrating, I had no choice but to force myself to ignore it rather than confront them. This experience has since taught me to make decisions with a calm and mature mindset, something I struggled with before, as I often made rash and impulsive choices. I've also come to realize that life isn't always easy, and tough times are inevitable. #ELEMENT2024
Last year, I participated in the CreatiVelo Pilot 2023 from Quest Group of Institutions. At one point, our morale hit rock bottom, and I almost gave up on the project. We struggled to find vendors who could provide the CreatiVelo parts within our budget, and communication issues with the vendors made things harder since most of our team were from Northeast India. But during a meeting with 1Gen, Paul motivated and encouraged us by believing in us, lifting our spirits. Paul mentioned the 1Gen motto, "Jo nahi hoga wohi toh karke dikhana hai," really motivated me and continue to do so whenever my morale dips. That meeting revived our persistence, and we eventually completed the project successfully. If I had given up then, I would have missed the opportunity to become part of the 1Gen family and the Element2024 program. #ELEMENT2024
I am truly grateful to God for the opportunity to wake up each day and be surrounded by my loved ones. The joy of starting my morning with them sets a positive tone for the day. I cherish the moments we share, from casual conversations to laughter-filled breakfasts. Additionally, I appreciate the ability to connect with friends online, collaborating on work projects and sharing jokes that lighten our spirits. This blend of in-person connection and virtual camaraderie enriches my life, reminding me of the importance of community and support. Together, we navigate challenges, celebrate successes, and create lasting memories, all of which make each day more meaningful and fulfilling.
I am immensely grateful to my parents, not only for their unwavering support but also for the discipline they instilled in me. In the past, they were often strict, and at times I didn’t fully understand why. But looking back, I now realize that their firm guidance helped me avoid being spoilt and taught me the value of hard work, responsibility, and making the right choices. Their tough love shaped my character and helped me grow into the person I am today. For that, I am forever thankful.
I am incredibly thankful to my friends, who have been a constant source of support and understanding in my life. They have never hesitated to help me whenever I needed it, always stepping up without question. In moments when I felt emotionally unstable, they were there to lift me up, offering the kind of comfort and encouragement that only close friends can give. They truly feel like a second family to me, providing a space where I can share things that aren’t always easy to express with family. Their friendship has been a true blessing, and I’m forever grateful for their presence in my life.
I am profoundly grateful for the pivotal moments of impact in my life that have shaped my journey and opened doors to incredible opportunities. These experiences have allowed me to grow, not just in skills but in confidence, mindset, and purpose. From learning invaluable life lessons through sports to gaining confidence in my abilities, the CreatiVelo Project has been a transformative experience. It sharpened my skills and fueled my passion for sustainability, ultimately leading me to secure a full-time position at 1 Gen. This journey has been one of personal growth and discovery, and I am deeply thankful for the people, challenges, and opportunities that have led me here.
I am deeply grateful to my country, India, for providing a relatively stable environment where we can grow, learn, and pursue our dreams without the fear of external conflict or war. This peace we enjoy is a direct result of the immense sacrifices made by our freedom fighters, whose courage and resilience gifted us the independence we often take for granted today. Their legacy allows us to live with the freedom to explore our potential and contribute to the nation's progress. However, while we are fortunate in many ways, I believe it is important to address the internal challenges our country still faces, such as inequality and social division. Solving these issues is essential for building a more inclusive and united India, one that truly honors the vision of those who fought for our independence.
