MY STORIES
After being away for a month and returning home I decided to go on a morning jog. On my way back I noticed by the roadside a litter of puppies. I instantly rushed back home to get some leftover chapatis and some milk to feed them. Together with their tails wagging they rushed towards me and eagerly devoured the food. Their eyes shined with gratitude. This small act of kindness set the tone for happiness and influenced the mood for the rest of my day ahead.
As I returned home after a month away, the scorching summer sun greeted me. Our small garden was wilting, and my plants were clearly thirsty for some water. Feeling guilty for neglecting them, I rushed to water them. As the cool droplets soothed the earth, I realized that even small acts of kindness can revive what's been neglected.
This evening, I noticed my mom struggling with a severe headache. Without hesitation, I took over the household chores, prepared a soothing tea, and created a calm environment for her to rest. Seeing her relief and gratitude, I learned that kindness and care for loved ones are powerful ways to show love and support.
This afternoon, I planted a new sapling in the backyard. As I carefully tended to the young plant, watering it and ensuring it had enough sunlight, I felt a deep sense of satisfaction. Through this simple act, I learned that nurturing life, even in small ways, can bring immense joy and fulfillment.
Today, while returning from the market I noticed a young boy sitting alone on the street, looking hungry and tired. I could not buy him something as it was an empty street. But I did have some change and a chocolate that I had bought. So I gave him the cash and the chocolate, his smile of gratitude warmed my heart, reminding me that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in someone's life.
After a long, exhausting day at work, I took a relaxing shower, had dinner, and sat along with my parents talking and discussing our day, gazing at the stars from our window. I felt a deep sense of peace and contentment as I settled into my bed afterwards, appreciating the moments of rest and reflection.
So the last time we visited our favorite restaurant, the food wasn't up to par, so we let the staff know. But tonight, when we returned, the staff surprised us by bringing out the same dish, perfectly prepared, without us even ordering it. Their humility and kindness in making up for their mistake touched us, and we were equally thankful for their thoughtful gesture. (Thanks to the amazing manager - Ganesh and his staff)
After dinner, I packed up the leftovers and headed outside. There's always some street dogs around at night time. I spotted a hungry street dog who eagerly came towards me. Gently, I offered the leftovers. The dog eagerly devoured the meal. Sharing a bit can mean the world to another.
This evening, my uncle called, frustrated with his laptop not working properly. So I went over to his place, patiently troubleshooting the issues. While it was not any serious issue thankfully like the blue screen of death that's been happening today, just a simple browser crash so I solved the problem and showed him a few tips to avoid future issues. His relief and gratitude made me realize how my tech skills could significantly help those around me.
There's this goldsmith in our market from West Bengal who is genuinely one of the nicest people I know. Recently, he's been struggling with the high (abnormally high for Himachal) summer heat. So, a few people from the market and I gathered some cash and decided to surprise him by buying a cooler. Upon returning from lunch, he was so happy and surprised to see the new cooler and thanked us profusely. This act of kindness reminded me that coming together to help others can make a big difference in someone's life.
Today I had a severe headache and stiff neck so I went to my local pharmacy to get some medicine. At the pharmacy, I noticed an elderly lady struggling to read a piece of paper with her medicine details. Despite the my severe headache, I approached her and offered to help. We were quickly able to find her medicine along with the help of a very kind and patient pharmacist. Her relieved smile and heartfelt thanks made my day and certainly helped in relieving my headache.
Meet Rani, she’s not my pet but a rescue at a local cafe. Every time I go there, she greets me warmly. It had been two months since I last saw her, so naturally, when I went there today, she was extremely happy to see me. She wagged her tail uncontrollably, almost unable to contain her happiness. I had made sure to bring some treats for her, and her joy made my day even brighter.
This afternoon, I was returning from the market when it suddenly started raining, I noticed an elderly woman struggling without an umbrella. So I unselfishly hurried over and offered to share my umbrella. Gratefully, she accepted, and we walked together until she reached her destination. Her heartfelt thanks reminded me that small acts of kindness, like sharing an umbrella on a rainy day, can brighten someone’s day.
This afternoon, I decided to visit my old school. Walking through the familiar hallways, I was flooded with memories. Remembering past experiences excited me and refuelled me with my past enthusiasm. Revisiting old places can create new moments of connection and allows one to give back to the communities that shaped them.
Today as it poured heavily I noticed a few of our plants in our garden were struggling under the heavy rain. Quickly, I found some sticks and gently propped them up, ensuring they wouldn't break. As the rain continued to nourish our garden, I felt a deep sense of fulfillment, reminded that caring for our plants, even in adverse conditions, fosters growth and resilience.(P.S. pics were taken after the rain had stopped 😁)
This evening, while on my bike I noticed a young man desperately asking for a ride to catch his bus, which he had failed to get on. I offered him a ride on my bike, and together we made it to the next bus stop in time. He thanked me warmly, and I realized that small acts of kindness, like helping someone catch a missed bus, can make a big difference in their day.
Four years ago, a family friend of ours quietly left this world. Today, on the 4 year anniversary, we visited their family to pay our respects, a small act of remembrance. Sometimes, kindness is simply showing up, honoring a life once lived, expecting nothing in return but offering everything.
This morning, in the middle of a busy road, a driver struggled to turn his car around. Others honked impatiently, but I waited silently, giving him space. No rush, no judgment. As he completed the turn, he looked at me, nodded with gratitude. A simple moment—kindness exchanged without a single word.
