MY STORIES
I feel gratitude for the seen and the unseen blessings in my life
Keeping in view the monsoon season, I offered to buy a raincoat for our househelp. However, she kindly refused and insisted to get one for her school going child. I was in awe of a mother’s heart. I made up my mind and surprised her with two raincoats of different sizes -one for her and for the kid. She was overjoyed.
Yesterday,It was raining early in the morning, and a few stray dogs were getting drenched outside with nowhere to go. My father, who too loves dogs, opened our main door and let them into the porch to keep them safe and dry. As always, we gave them some roti and milk. Waking up to that scene warmed my heart. Such a simple act, yet so full of compassion. Rare are those who show kindness to animals. My dad’s compassion inspires me every day—to be gentle, to care, and to find meaning in even the smallest good deeds.
Mornings Kindness dose! Yesterday, It was heavily raining early in the morning, and a few stray dogs were getting drenched outside with nowhere to go. A call, a visit and a little comfort in between.! Called up my Massi last night out of the blue. In the middle of chatting, she mentioned she’s been a little unwell lately — sore throat, low fever, just not feeling great. Uncle’s away, so she’s been home alone. Decided this morning to just drop by. So we picked up her favourite desi ghee biscuits on the way and some fruits. It wasn’t planned or big, but it felt right. A little time, a little warmth — sometimes that’s all someone needs.
Today, I shared a few biscuit packets and jeera bottles with the children outside our Gurudwara. A small act, but sometimes a little kindness is all we need — especially in this weather.

Jamuns and joy, hand in hand! We noticed a lady collecting jamuns that had fallen outside our house from our tree, as seen through the cameras. Upon watching this, we decided to share with her, a packet filled with fresh jamuns from our house. At first, she seemed a little scared, probably thinking someone had come to scold her. But when we handed her the jamuns, her face lit up with joy—her smile and eyes said it all.
Little things matter! Today, while driving in the rain, we noticed a car ahead with two kids in the back seat. One of the rear windows wasn’t fully closed, which could have been unsafe. We signaled to the driver and let them know. They were so thankful. A small act, but it felt good to help.
Small gestures! I visited my niece today, as she recently started preschool. I took along some practice books and colors for her. She was so excited when she saw them, and her happiness was truly heartwarming. Such a small gesture, yet it brought so much joy!
Tiny Moments! There’s this stray dog near our house ‘Billuu’, who often comes by for food and we usually feed him in the evenings. Today, after coming back from a long trip, we got home really late—and there he was, waiting for us. We gave him some treats, and he happily ate before walking away, almost like saying, “That’s all I wanted.” Tiny moments like these make everything feel so warm.
Waiting turned into helping! Yesterday, I went to the post office for some work. After I finished, it started raining, so I decided to wait until it slowed down. While I was sitting there, I noticed a few ladies struggling to fill out some forms. Seeing their confused faces, I asked if they needed help, and they happily agreed. I helped them complete their forms, and they thanked me with smiles. It felt good to make their day a little easier.
One bottle, so many smiles! Whenever Mom makes lassi after churning butter from milk cream, we love sharing some with our house help—it’s such a refreshing drink for the summer. Today, we gave her a full bottle, and she was so happy! She told us she’ll make kadhi with it once she gets home because her kids absolutely love it. It truly made her day and ours too! ☺️
Every effort deserves support!! I recently visited the Golden Temple. After a beautiful darshan, while waiting for my car, a young girl around 8-9 years old came by selling fridge magnets. I wasn’t planning to buy, but we started talking, and I found out she’s studying while earning on the side to support her family. She seemed so genuine. I asked her price and bought four magnets as gifts and souvenirs. They cost a little more than usual, but honestly, that’s nothing compared to her effort to help her family. Small acts like these remind me how much strength and determination some people carry in their everyday lives.
A small Act, A Big Difference! This morning, on our way to the city, we noticed a girl running frantically—she had just missed her bus by seconds as the signal turned red. Her face showed pure panic. We slowed down and offered her a lift. At first, she hesitated, but after seeing a family inside, she agreed. On the way, she told us today was her entrance exam, and missing that bus could cost her everything. She was almost in tears. We dropped her at the next bus stop—before the bus even reached there—and waited with her until it arrived. She thanked us with such relief in her eyes. It took us only a few minutes, but for her, it might have made all the difference. Sometimes, a small act of kindness changes someone’s entire day.
Homemade Happiness! My father-in-law doesn’t usually enjoy store-bought sweets, so for his birthday, I made a cake at home. I kept it simple — healthy ingredients, just a touch of sweetness. When he tried it, he smiled and said, “This is just right.” It felt good to see something so small bring real joy.
A Little Morning Kindness! This morning, on our way to the Gurudwara Sahib — it’s a peaceful spot by the Bhakra canal, lined with trees — we decided to carry a few bread packets with us. We often see monkeys there, and today, we thought, why not share something? So, on our way back, we stopped and offered the bread. Their excitement was on another level — so full of energy and joy. It made the morning feel extra special.
Friendship in small acts! What started as a casual Friendship Day call to a dear friend turned out to be something more. She’s starting a new job tomorrow in a new city but was still struggling to finalise a PG—nothing felt right, and the clock was ticking. So I quickly made a WhatsApp group with our close friends, shared her concern, and everyone pitched in with suggestions, contacts, and support. In just a short while, we helped her find a great place—safe, within budget, and ready for move-in. She said, “I wish I’d reached out earlier.” Sometimes, it just takes a little kindness and a few good friends to make things fall into place.
A hand in deed, is a hand in need! Today, our house help brought her little one with her.She was clearly trying to manage both work and the kid, and it looked like a lot. So I sat with him for a bit. Talked random things. Asked silly questions. Just kept him busy so she could finish up without being pulled in two directions. Wasn’t a big thing. But I think it helped. Sometimes kindness is just… doing what you can in the moment.
