MY STORIES
We were at the clinic for my mom's checkup. Despite many patients waiting, a severely ill person also arrived but patiently waited for their turn. My mom and I decided to give up our appointment to the person so that he could be treated promptly.
Today, I was heading home and had booked a cab. Needing some medicine, I stopped by a nearby pharmacy, but they were out of stock. The store owner offered to get the medicine from another nearby store and asked me to wait for five minutes. Meanwhile, it started raining and the cab driver was waiting too, but his maximum wait time was only ten minutes before he could cancel the ride. After ten minutes, he called me, and I explained the situation, asking for a bit more time. Eventually, it took about 15 minutes for the owner to get the medicine. I rushed to the cab, apologized for the delay. During the ride, I realized how patient the cab driver had been, waiting without complaint, so I added some extra amount to the fare. When he noticed, I explained it was for his patience and kindness. He smiled warmly and said Thank you Tai (Sister).
In front of my house, there is a large training ground where newly appointed police officers from various cities across Maharashtra are being trained. After their training session, a group of officers was sitting outside my house. To help them relax, I offered them water and some snacks.
This afternoon, it started raining, so I went out to cover my scooty. I noticed two school girls taking shelter under a tree to avoid getting wet. The rain intensified, and they were completely drenched. I approached them with umbrellas and invited them to wait in my house until the rain stopped. Since they were soaked, I gave them towels to dry off and made them hot coffee to warm up.
My mom hasn't been feeling well for the past few days and is currently on leave. Despite being unwell, my mom is the type of person who always wants to stay busy and doesn't like to sit idle. To ensure she gets proper rest, I decided to take over on all the household chores and meal preparations. While this initially frustrates her because she feels she has nothing to do, it also comforts her to know that she can fully rest and be cared for by us.
My brother's best friend, who lives here alone for his education, nearby to our home while his parents live in another city, has been feeling unwell for the past few days. My brother kept checking on him about his health over the phone, but since he was alone, he might also have been feeling lonely. So we decided to give him a surprise visit with a homemade meal and some fruits. He was so happy to see us; he mentioned that it made him feel that he's not alone and that someone is there to look after him in his parents' absence.
During our late-night walk, my brother and I discovered a kitten taking shelter under a car at the back of our house. Concerned about the rainy weather and the risk of stray dogs, we immediately brought her into our home. We wanted to ensure her safety and provide her with a warm, dry place to stay.
One of my brother's friends from our neighborhood came to us and mentioned that he was going through a crisis at home and couldn't afford the books for his 12th-grade science classes and if could help him with it. Since we were planning to donate the books to the college library anyway, we decided to give them to him. We also assured him that he could reach out to us anytime if he faced any difficulties in his studies, and we would be happy to guide him. Additionally, we gave him some extra study materials and tips to help him prepare better for his exams. It felt good to be able to support him during this challenging time, and he seemed really grateful for our help.
Today, I went out for lunch and on my way back home, I stopped at a traffic signal where I noticed small kids selling pens while also taking care of their younger siblings. It was shocking to see such young children having to shoulder adult responsibilities just to survive. I bought a pack of pens from them and gave them the money, and since I had some donuts with me, I gave those to the kids as well. Seeing their smiles, I realized how even small gestures can make a big difference in their difficult lives. It reminded me of the importance of compassion and the impact we can have on others with just a bit of kindness.
My grandmother lives in my neighborhood with my uncle and aunt. Despite living so close to their home, I rarely get the chance to visit her. Yesterday, I decided to make a special visit and prepared some of her favorite snacks to enjoy with her evening tea. She was overjoyed to see me after such a long time, and we spent hours talking and catching up. Since it had been so long since my last visit, she insisted that I stay for dinner. I happily helped her prepare the meal, enjoyed dinner with her, and then returned home. It was a heartwarming experience, and I realized how much joy a simple visit can bring.
Today, my mom and I were cleaning out our cupboards and discovered some old, but still good quality clothes. We decided to donate them. It felt great knowing that these clothes, which we no longer needed, could bring warmth and comfort to someone else. The experience reminded us of the importance of giving back and how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in our community.
Today, I wrote a heartfelt gratitude note to my mom, expressing my deep appreciation for everything she has done for us. I thanked her for her unwavering support, endless love, and the countless sacrifices she has made to ensure our happiness and well-being. Her daily acts of love and care inspire me to be a better person, and I wanted to let her know how much she means to us.
In the dance of time, a shifting tune, Friends emerge, like stars at noon. Through every storm and bright sunrise, A bond unspoken, a sweet surprise. In shared laughter and silent tears, Grows a garden of endless years. Through the rhythm of life, a subtle range, A transition, beautiful and strange. Through moments light and shadows cast, Friendship's melody forever lasts. In the quiet echoes of the heart, A transformation, a work of art. Participating in the leadership program was a transformative journey that deepened my understanding of effective communication and collaboration. I learned that true leadership is not just about guiding others but also about listening, adapting, and growing together. This experience has inspired me to embrace challenges with resilience and foster a supportive community around me.

Some interior work has been going on at my home for the past few days, and the workers usually stay late to finish it faster. We make sure they have water, tea with some snacks, and if they’re working late, we also share dinner with them. They always seem thankful, and it feels good to take care of the people who are helping us.
I went to the market for groceries, and on the way back it suddenly started raining. I had forgotten my umbrella, so I waited under a tree but was still getting wet. Just then, an aunty from my colony saw me and kindly offered to drop me home. We walked together under her umbrella, both getting wet but still managing to reach home. I felt so relieved and grateful for her thoughtful gesture—she didn’t think twice before helping me, even at her own discomfort.
While I was out in the evening, I noticed a blind man struggling to cross a busy road. I walked up to him and helped him get across safely.
My brother isn’t the type to express feelings with words, but today he came home with my favorite donuts—no occasion, no explanation. Just a simple gesture that said, “I care.” He didn’t make a big deal out of it, but that quiet act of kindness meant a lot. Sometimes, love is shown in the smallest, unspoken ways.
While heading back from the temple today, I noticed an elderly couple I know waiting for an auto. Even after a while, they were still standing there. I walked over, had a light chat, and asked where they were headed. To make things easier for them, I booked a cab — they seemed quite relieved and grateful.
While collecting my food delivery, the delivery guy mentioned that his phone battery was about to die and he still had a few more deliveries to complete. He asked if he could borrow my charger for a bit. I let him charge his phone while he waited and also offered him a glass of lemonade. He looked genuinely relieved and thankful.
While buying vegetables, the vendor struggled to find change. Instead of waiting, I told him to keep it. He paused, smiled, and said, “You’re the first customer today who said that.” It was a small gesture, but in that moment, I realized how even tiny acts of kindness can bring unexpected relief to someone working hard all day.
On my way home from the grocery store, I noticed a skinny stray dog lying near a wall, looking tired and hungry. I had a packet of biscuits in my bag, so I opened it and placed some nearby. The dog slowly got up, sniffed, and started eating. As I walked away, he wagged his tail gently and even followed me for a short distance before settling down again. It was such a small act, but in that moment, it felt like I made his day a little better.
While walking back home, someone stopped me and asked for directions. They looked confused and said they were new to the area. Instead of just pointing, I walked with them part of the way to make sure they found it easily. They smiled and said, “Thanks for taking the time—people don’t usually do that.
At the pharmacy, I noticed a man struggling to make a UPI payment. His phone wasn’t getting proper network, and the payment just wouldn’t go through. I offered him my phone’s hotspot so he could connect and try again. It worked instantly. He looked relieved.
I went out for a walk after dinner and noticed a scooter parked outside with the key still in the ignition. No one was around, so I informed the building secretary. He quickly checked the records and called the flat owner. They came down immediately, looking surprised. “Thank you so much,” they said. “I had no idea I left the key in".
Our neighbour mentioned that they were going out of town and forgot to arrange someone to water their plants. I offered to help and went up every couple of days to take care of their balcony garden. It didn’t take much time, and it felt nice knowing those little plants wouldn’t dry out.
My mom had been feeling unusually tired over the last few days — she wouldn’t complain, but I could see it. So today, I asked her to just relax and not worry about dinner. I took charge of the kitchen, cooked a simple meal, and made sure she had time to rest. She looked calmer, and seeing that made me feel quietly happy. Sometimes, kindness is just noticing and stepping in.
My younger brother came home looking stressed and quiet — clearly something was bothering him. Instead of asking too many questions, I just sat beside him and gave him space. After a while, he started talking about what happened. He didn’t need advice, just someone to listen.
A courier guy accidentally left a package meant for my neighbor outside my door. Instead of ignoring it, I walked over and handed it to them. They were actually waiting for it and said, “Thank you! I was wondering where it went.” It felt nice to do something so simple yet helpful.
My mom was struggling with a setting on her phone and kept tapping around, getting a bit frustrated. I paused my work, sat beside her, and walked her through the steps patiently. Once it was sorted, she smiled and said, “You always know how to fix these things.” A small moment, but it felt nice to be there for her.
A friend casually mentioned their phone charger had stopped working and they hadn’t had the time to get a new one. I remembered I had an extra one at home that I wasn’t using anymore. I cleaned it up and gave it to them. They were genuinely happy.
While heading out in the morning, I noticed my neighbor watering her balcony plants. Her flowers looked so bright and well-kept, so I paused and said, “Your garden looks beautiful!” She smiled and replied, “I didn’t think anyone noticed… you just made my!
