MY STORIES
#1000StoriesOfKindness These days we have rainy season in Pune. Whenever it rains food delivery apps shutdown their service for safety reasons as most of the deliveries are done using two wheelers. So we decided to do something extra for delivery drivers on rainy days by offering them inr 100 tips and a cup of warm tea. It was a great feeling to see unexpected smiles 😊
Yesterday we landed at London Heathrow Airport which is one of the busiest airports in the world. There were several senior citizens on our flight from Mumbai one of which was an old lady traveling alone. Seeing her struggle with baggage belt I offered to get her a trolley and helped with her bags till arrivals door, where her granddaughter was waiting. The lady reminded me of my late mother …and how she used to travel alone to USA to visit and she always used to say “bahut sare achhe Logan ne help kiti “ Actually if you look carefully KJNDNESS is everywhere around us 🙏
During our morning visit to Starbucks, we placed our order at the drive through window. When our turn came to make the payment I requested the cashier that I would like to pay further the car behind us. Cashier was thrilled to see our ‘pay it forward’ spirit and wished us best with a free cookie. We could only imagine the excited smile on driver behind us to realize the unexpected gift 🎁 happy Saturday Morning 🌞
There is power in the handwritten note especially in the age of digital messages. Wrote a gratitude note for a close family member who has been out of touch for long. Felt awesome 😊
Yesterday , during our walk through one of the busy intersections of London - we watched a street singer who is from Vietnam. Seeing few Indians in the crowd he immediately switched to a beautiful Hindi song from ‘Jo Jeeta wahi Sikander’. He shared that he learned this song to impress his Indian girlfriend. We were so deeply moved by the experience, so we gave him a large sum of money for evening meal. Music knows no language 🎶
The person who cleans our hotel room everyday is an African immigrant in London. He always carries a smile on his face and greets all the guests with kind gestures. Normally I tip him every time he brings fresh bottles to our room but today I offered him a fresh drink as a ‘thank you’. The surprised look on his face was priceless. Kind gestures always create priceless moments 🙏
Everyday I get plenty of spam messages and some of them are from Scam Artists who are always trying to collect private information. Rather than just blocking them I replied them with a kind message. Every little act counts 🦋
When at the airport I witnessed a lady struggle with the luggage so I gave my cart to her and picked another one. Small acts big returns 🎁
We chose to have lunch at a new Indian restaurant (near Chicago) where they are running a giving campaign. Every meal bought feeds a child living in poverty in India. Small act, huge reward 🌈
Being kind to yourself is the hardest thing and it takes tons of courage. I read it somewhere that act of forgiveness is the best form of healing for something wrong that was done to you. Today, I choose to forgive… “thank you for a great life lesson”
Today at the checkout lane of grocery store, I asked the person behind me to go ahead of me since he only had 2 items and I had a cart full of stuff. Unexpected small gesture and resulting joy made my day better.
There is a differently abled person who works at the grocery store nearby. Yesterday at the checkout counter i offered to help him with putting things in bags and started to have a conversation. I realized because of his situation not many people would talk to him but show pity. It felt great to listen to his words and courage that he is working hard to earn a living. We all struggle in our own ways … kindness is just understanding this simple truth.
