MY STORIES
This summer, I took it upon myself to feed the street dogs in my area, making sure they had enough to eat despite the scorching heat. Seeing them enjoy the meals and knowing they were a bit more comfortable brought immense joy to my heart.
When I am at a food stall and someone, especially a child or elderly person, asks for money, I prefer to offer them food instead. This way, I ensure they get a nutritious meal, as money can sometimes be used for the wrong purposes. Seeing their smiles and gratitude is a priceless reward for this small act of kindness.
Instead of throwing away leftover chapatis, I prefer feeding them to cows. This small act of kindness ensures that the food doesn't go to waste and also supports the well-being of these gentle animals. It's a simple way to contribute to the ecosystem and practice compassion in everyday life.
When I encounter an elderly hardworking person on the street specially in summer, I make it a point to offer them water and snacks. This small act of kindness ensures they have a meal and can bring a moment of relief and dignity to their day.
When I see stray cats on the building terrace, I make it a habit to feed them. Providing these animals with food not only helps them survive but also builds a sense of trust and companionship. This small effort brings joy to both the cats and me, knowing I’ve made a positive impact on their lives.
I make it a habit to donate blood once every six to seven months. Additionally, whenever I hear about someone in need of blood, I step forward without hesitation. This small act can save lives and provide critical support during emergencies, reinforcing the importance of community and compassion.
I mostly choose to support local businesses and artisans by buying their products, especially during festivals. This not only helps sustain their livelihoods but also promotes a vibrant and thriving community. Celebrating festivals by supporting local vendors adds a personal touch to the festivities and strengthens the bonds within our community.
When our society members organize tree planting drives in our colony, I make sure to participate. Joining these efforts helps contribute to a greener environment and fosters a sense of community. It’s rewarding to see the positive impact of our collective actions on our surroundings and future generations.
I regularly donate gently used clothes to local shelters. This small act of kindness helps those in need stay warm and well-dressed, especially during the colder months. It’s a simple way to reduce waste and ensure that my clothes find a new home where they are truly needed.
I regularly donate books to my society library. This act of kindness helps to provide resources for education and entertainment, fostering a love for reading in children and adults alike. It’s a simple way to support literacy and lifelong learning in my community.
I put out bird feeders and water in my balcony. It helps local wildlife and brings a touch of nature closer to home.
I make it a point to shop at local businesses and support small vendors. When I buy from them, I choose not to bargain. Paying the asked price helps sustain their livelihoods and shows appreciation for their hard work and craftsmanship.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with such a supportive and innovative team, where every challenge turns into a learning experience. Let’s continue to grow together!
I was heading to work when I noticed a kid rummaging through a bin. I offered him my extra lunchbox for the day. He looked up with such joy and asked, “Can I eat this right now?” I nodded, fighting back tears.
A rickshaw driver looked tired and frustrated. He said he hadn’t had a passenger in hours. I asked him to drop me even though it was a walkable distance — and tipped him extra. His smile made my morning.
On Diwali night, I handed out sweets and sparklers to the kids who usually just watch from afar. One of them said, “Is this how Diwali feels?” That single line was more than any firecracker that night.
It was a scorching afternoon when a delivery guy reached my door, visibly tired and sweating. Before taking the bags, I asked him, “Bhai, paani loge?” He drank the water slowly, looked at me with relief, and said, “Thank you, bhaiya,” with a satisfied smile — genuinely obliged. That simple gesture felt more fulfilling than usual.
A society security guard asked me if I knew how to fill out a government form. “I’ve been trying since morning, sir… I don’t understand English well.” I helped him submit it. He touched his forehead and said, “You’ve lifted a burden today.”
