MY STORIES
Yesterday morning, I was waiting for the grand processions (palkhis) of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj . Lakhs of devotees were walking on the pilgrimage route from Alandi and Dehu Road in Pune towards Pandharpur. I noticed an elderly man applying tilak to everyone's forehead. He wasn't asking for any money in return. He simply said, "Money doesn't matter to me. Applying tilak brings me happiness." While his words truly resonated with me, I still felt compelled to offer a small token of my appreciation. He graciously accepted it, and the warmth of his smile was a reminder that kindness can take many forms.
This past Sunday, we had booked a football turf for an hour. As we were about to kick off our match, a boy of same age of me approached us. He explained, with a hint of disappointment, that his match, scheduled for after ours, had been canceled at the last minute. He'd traveled a significant distance, 6-7 kilometers, specifically for the game. Touched by his dedication and enthusiasm, I discussed the situation with my team. We all agreed, and I extended the invitation for him to join our game. The relief and joy on his face were heartwarming. He expressed his sincere gratitude before the match began and again afterward, clearly happy to have been able to play despite the setback. This experience served as a reminder of the power of kindness and the simple joy of inclusion. It was a small gesture that made a big difference, turning a potentially disappointing day into a memorable one for a fellow football enthusiast.
Today when I was on my way to grocery shop. I Spotted two boys in my society, completely lost. Turns out they rented a storage unit through Porter, but the address of the person lacked the exact flat and wing number. They'd travelled 15km! Feeling for them, I suggested them to wait until the society office opened . Luckily, they found the renter (out of town) , confirming their unit was safe. The boys left with a big sigh of relief and a grateful smile.
Yesterday, I was driving home after dropping my sister off at college. On my way back, a man was standing on the side of the road, looking for lift . I stopped and offered him a ride. He explained that he'd been waiting for a bus for the past 20 minutes, but none had come. He'd also tried to hail an auto rickshaw, but they were either unavailable or asking for an exorbitant fare. He told me he had a specific login time at work, and if he missed it, his entire day would be counted as a half-day. Luckily, his office was near my house, so I dropped him off there. He was incredibly grateful and thanked me profusely for saving his day.
A few days ago, one of my friends called me and asked if I still had my third-year engineering books. I wasn't sure why he needed them, but he explained that some of his friends had just finished their second year and would be starting their third year in ten days. He wanted to know if I could lend them the books. I told him I'd check and let him know. After confirming I had all the books, I called him back and said they were available. Since I wasn't using them anymore, I thought it would be better to give them to him rather than letting them gather dust in my cupboard.
Two days after booking a cooking gas cylinder, the doorbell rang today. I opened the door and saw a man in a Bharat Gas uniform, a heavy cylinder strapped to his shoulder. I grabbed a glass of water and offered it to him. "Here," I said, "have some water before we get the cylinder inside." He smiled, thanked me, and took a grateful drink. Then,I told him that I will carried it myself into the kitchen . A small act but maybe it made his day a little cooler.
We group of friends went together to celebrate our friend's birthday near his house. We brought a cake, and seeing some children playing nearby, we decided to invite them to join the celebration. After cutting the cake, we usually smash it on the birthday boy's face, but this time, we decided to skip that tradition and distribute the cake to the children instead. They were so happy, their faces beaming with smiles!
Yesterday, while I was returning home from my grandparents' house, I saw the boy who lives next door returning from his tution. We started talking and joking as we walked together. Suddenly, it began to rain. Luckily, I had an umbrella with me. I opened it and Motioned the boy to join me under the umbrella, since his bag was full of books that could get wet. He was happy to accept my offer.
During my evening walk, my mom called and asked me to bring dust bin bags . I was going to get them from the shop, but instead, I noticed on the side of the road that some children and their parents were selling them. I decided to buy from them.
This morning, I watered the plants in my balcony and saw a small plant growing! I had sown the seed last week, and seeing it sprout and grow bigger brings me happiness.
My cousin recently finished her 10th grade and was unsure about which path to take next. I helped her by providing an overview of each academic stream and guided her towards a suitable choice.
Yesterday,My sister was struggling to upload her signature for the CMA exam application because the system had specific pixel requirements. Since I had previously dealt with a similar form, I was able to help her successfully complete the upload. She was very grateful for my assistance.
On Saturday, I visited the hospital for a body check up . After meeting with the doctor, I encountered an elderly couple who seemed confused about the room number. They were unsure of where to go for their checkup. They approached me for help, so I checked their OPD card and took them to the correct room. They were very grateful.
I noticed a delivery guy near my building gate, looking around, phone in hand. He kept checking his screen, clearly unsure where to go. He walked up and asked, “Bhaiya, yeh building kahan hai?” Maps had misled him wing name was missing only building and flat no was present. I pointed him to the correct building and wing. His smile said it all. A tiny act that hopefully made his day easier
One day, I placed a bowl of water and some grains . What began as a small gesture has now become a peaceful morning routine. Birds land on my balcony with a quiet sense of comfort, fluttering in without fear. Watching them has become a gentle reminder that even the smallest acts can bring calm. Sometimes, kindness is simply creating a space where others feel safe to return.
Today at D-Mart, a man behind me had just a few items while my cart was full. He politely asked if he could go ahead. I nodded and stepped aside. He looked relieved and thanked me with a smile. It only delayed me by a minute, but for him, it seemed to make a difference. Sometimes, kindness is just about saying yes without hesitation.
Today, a friend asked to GPay me two thousand rupees in exchange for cash. I agreed and transferred him the money. He said it saved him the time and hassle of going to an ATM.
